Traveling the world and designing spaces across the country has lead Robert McKinley on a path to discover remarkable companies with incredible products. The Bungalow was designed, in part, to bring these favorite creations together under one roof and share them with others.
“To me,” Robert explains “summertime is always about entertaining with friends at home, so we wanted to collaborate with our favorite artists, makers and manufacturers to produce a space that would bring people together.”

Turning a mass manufactured product into a bespoke high-quality good at an approachable price, Reform has taken a house hold name’s ingenuity to the next level of high-design. They’re making a low to mid-level kitchen look and feel like it’s top of the line – in quality, superior materials, refined design, and excellent color ways.

Celebrating the engineering and creativity indicative to Detroit’s heritage, they are making phenomenal products and creating jobs. The sound quality and design refinement of the turntable we selected for the Bungalow, make it a piece of art. I really respond to the aesthetic of the bikes - everything you want in a bike quality and personality. Riding ones makes me feel cool.

Wright competes with high-end companies on comfort and quality, yet they’ve made it possible for people to have high quality at a fraction of the cost. That is great design! The company is led by an incredible team who are passionate about American made manufacturing and have spent time caring about working with small mills – allowing customers to be part of building communities, not corporations.

I love that Domingue paint is all natural lime based. While sustainability is top of everyone’s mind, it’s difficult to discern what you’re getting with all the white noise in the industry. Domingue is true to their mission - they’re color palates are rich and sophisticated and the texture is reminiscent of a time that once was. When you look at it you realize there is something special about this paint.

An incredible company that is always such a joy to work with. Their simple hand hewn designs are a breath of fresh air and really feel timeless and elegant. The tiles are thick and durable and feel like they will last a lifetime. My favorite is the natural, unglazed, finish.

Emtek is a company I’ve been using for years on projects. They’re amazing to work with and their products are just as special. The Stretto line is reminiscent of the Elegant European locks and their Athena un-lacquered polished brass is my absolute favorite. Truly couldn’t imagine my phone without them.

PITT cooking has completely revolutionized the stove top. Making their burners integrated into the counter top creates an exquisite look while remaining extremely functional. When I first saw them, there was no question in my mind that they had to be incorporated into the Kitchen design.

Franke has been an industry leader in kitchen products for years. They’re Chef Center Sink was love at first sight - clean modern lines incorporated with organized smart design. Such as, compartments for both compost and cleaning supplies as well as accessories like a roll up drying rack, a drop-in drain board, and a glass cutting board. By far the coolest sink I’ve ever seen.

I was inspired by Floyd’s dedication to good design, approachable pricing, quality materials and easy shipping. We were in love with the clean modern look of the bed and even more impressed with the 15-minute set up from box to bed. It’s the centerpiece to the Master Bedroom.
